  7. Welcome to PageStream 3.3a!
  8.  
  9. While the release of 3.3 was pretty solid, a couple items have caused us
  10. to need to put this 3.3a out sooner than I would have hoped. The biggest
  11. problem to date as been the random trashing of memory when pasting or
  12. inserting text. However, since this version is strictly built upon the
  13. feature set of 3.3, it should be a pretty solid improvement over 3.3.
  14. Also, we have spent a large amount of time just fixing bugs and improving
  15. the little things that make for a more well rounded program.
  16.  
  17. CHANGES FROM 3.3 to 3.3a
  18. ------------------------
  19. TEXT:
  20. * Fixed new bug in 3.3 that would randomly crash when pasting/importing text.
  21. * Type size no longer disappears when editing Paragraph Styles if width is
  22.   not defined.
  23. * Find/Replace will now change mouse to busy pointer.
  24. * Fixed location problem when finding/scrolling through text across pages
  25.   that have not been viewed and therefor not formatted yet.
  26. * When changing the chapter and page numbering, chapter and page number
  27.   variables will now update.
  28. * When document name is changed, chapter name variables at the document
  29.   level will now update.
  30. * <No Font> in styletags will no longer actually set the font to <No Font>
  31.   but instead leave the font as it was like it should. Also, old documents
  32.   should now get fixed when loaded.
  33. * The character (,<,{, and [ will now cause smart quotes to open when
  34.   flowing those characters.
  35. * Double clicking on a space or near the end of a word works better now.
  36. * Smart quotes will now use an open quote when following a dash, en-dash,
  37.   or em-dash.
  38. * Text columns can now have a gutter of 0 or near 0 without locking up.
  39. * Select word/line/paragraph/column/all will now show a busy pointer.
  40. * Changed Leading keyboard shortcut from Control = (which conflicted with
  41.   non-breaking hyphen) to Control g.
  42. * Text marks in frameless text objects can now be used.
  43. * Fixed refresh of text when typing in article on the pasteboard.
  44. * Page and chapter counts will no longer show a preceding dash.
  45. * Fixed bug with text with slanted shadow.

  47. OBJECTS:
  48. * Fixed problem resizing textobjects that contain multiple size text.
  49. * When a document is loaded, external pictures will check if FPO needs to be
  50.   updated.
  51. * If the FPO is updated when a document is loaded, the document changed status
  52.   will be set.
  53. * Fixed enforcer hit when pasting an object at a user specified location.
  54. * Hopefully fixed problem with releasemask.
  55. * Fixed enforcer hit(s) when distributing objects.
  56. * Fixed distribute via spacing with respect to middle/center or right/bottom.
  57. * Can group/ungroup on the pasteboard.
  58. * Can reshape arcs on the pasteboard.
  59. * Can draw paths and freehand paths on the pasteboard.
  60. * Can resize textobjs on the pasteboard.
  61. * Can no reshape grids on the pasteboard.
  62. * Unfound external pictures will not generate enforcer hits now.
  63. * Moving the rotate about point for a rotated object will no longer cause
  64.   the object to move.
  65. * Bitmap, EPS, text object, & path object's rotate about point is now visible
  66.   when selected with the rotate tool.
  67. * Resizing frameless text objects with style tags works properly now (it
  68.   overrides the text size of the style tag).
  69. * Grids of 0 width or height or display intervals of 0 are no longer allowed.

  71. LINEFILL:
  72. * Fixed problem with old documents that tried to make use of multiple strokes
  73.   per line.
  74. * Clicking on a selected tab in Line/Fill will not show it deselected now.
  75. * Arrow4 will now work on screen and to non-PostScript. Hurray! Last arrow!
  76.  
  77. DOCUMENTS:
  78. * Fixed rearranging chapters whose starting chapter number is >1.
  79. * Pasting/Placing text columns in chapters will no longer loose the text
  80.   it contains.
  81. * Moving chapters in and out of chapters should now work.
  82. * Insert, delete, and move pages page numbers start at the starting page
  83.   number now. For relative page numbers, type a !,@,#,$, or % at the start
  84.   or end of the page number (ie, to delete the 4th page in a chapter which
  85.   starts at page 15, you can use the page number string of "18", or "!4").
  86.   This is the same as goto page.
  87. * Page numbers which fall before the first page will be forced to the first
  88.   page.
  89. * Page/Chapter/Mark/etc numbers no longer display nothing when the command
  90.   doesn't make sense but instead displays a dash (-). Ie, chapter numbers
  91.   at the root document level, or previous page numbers on the first page, etc.
  92. * Page palette will now show the old page number after a insert/move/delete
  93.   of pages behind the new page number. To reset the old page number to the new
  94.   page number, close and reopen the page palette.
  95.  
  96. MISC:
  97. * Added shift(or alt or ctrl) click on a link will open a new window for that
  98.   link.
  99. * Busy requesters now will appear only when the task will take more than
  100.   a few seconds. This _should_ elliminate those pesky flashing busy requestors
  101.   that don't stay up long enough to tell you anything.
  102. * Eyedropper tool will be empty first time you use it.
  103.  
  104. GENERAL PRINTING:
  105. * Scale to fit will now handle autolandscaped pages correctly.
  106. * Tiling will now handle autolandscaped pages correctly.
  107. * Spot colors used exclusivly in text was not getting picked up in the plate
  108.   list. However, if the spot color was used in an object, the text would
  109.   sep properly.
  110. * Pages which contain only non-printing objects are now considered blank pages
  111.   that are not printed when "Print blank pages" is turned off.
  112. * EPS and PICT objects with stroked outlines will now print the outline in the
  113.   proper place.
  114. * Plate Control now deals with starting pages other than 1 properly
  115. * Print Range can now have spaces( ), commas(,), colons(:) or semicolons(;) to
  116.   seperate individual pages, and dash(-) to show a range as before. Spaces
  117.   around a dash(-) are ignored.
  118. * Print Range page numbers can use !@#$% set absolute page numbers like in
  119.   goto, delete, insert, and move pages.
  120.  
  121. POSTSCRIPT PRINTING:
  122. * Fixed problem with colorized output of bitmaps.
  123. * Fixed font unloading so that Unlimited fonts can be printed.
  124. * Added fall back code for mirror/negative code when using built in PPD
  125.   commands.
  126. * Fixed disappearing text on landscape pages.
  127.  
  128. NON-POSTSCRIPT PRINTING:

  130. INTERFACE:
  131. * When changing the chapter numbering, the document palette will now update.
  132. * Save Template now says "Save Template" not "Save Document".
  133. * Toolbox tools in toolbar now works correctly and won't mess up other
  134.   toolbar items.
  135. * Duplicate Line & Fill items removed from toolbar item list.
  136. * Note tool shows with proper icon now.
  137. * 3 Column tool no longer sets 2 column tool.
  138. * Editing the window display mode of the non-current window will now set
  139.   the mode for the proper window and not the current window.

  141. SCRIPTING:

  144. FILTERS:
  145. * Added 2 new language modules. Srpski & Magyar (Hungarian).
  146. * Speed improvement in loading of documents using IFF DOC, objects
  147.   using IFF ILUS, text using IFF CTXT, and bitmaps using IFF ILBM.
  148. * Fixed problem with EPS filter and IFF ILUS that would cause some
  149.   documents with EPS to fail to load.
  150. * Fixed PCX export filter.
  151. * Fixed exporting of boxes and other closed shapes to IllustratorEPS.
  152.   They would load back into PageStream fine, but Illustrator and Freehand
  153.   gave strange results.
  154. * Tiles.effect has been renamed to Tile.effect. It is now faster, and
  155.   can have 4x the number of tiles, and has a better interface.
  156. * ReduceNoise.effect and Negative.effect can now be stopped.
  157. * Gamma.effect has been given a new interface, increased max value,
  158.   and fixed a rounding error that would give bad results sometimes.
  159. * ProPage Document filter- fixed bad behaviour with multlple copies of
  160.   the same graphics. Reversed horz and vert grid divisions.
  161. * WordPerfect- Added support for extended character set.
  162.  
  163. BME:
  164. * Effects shown are now translated GUI names. Also, they show ... after
  165.   those effects that will display a dialog box.
  166.  
  167. HHV:
  168. * Fixed scrollbar problem in HHV.
  169. * HHV can now cope with a missing pref file.
  170.  
  171. AMIGA:
  172. * Some minor changes to the Preferences driver that may fix some custom
  173.   paper size problems.
  174. * Added custom sizes to all HP printers. If the printer is not capable of
  175.   actually setting a custom size on it, the driver will instead pick the
  176.   best match, and leave the data in the upper left corner of the true
  177.   paper size.
  178. * Fixed CG engine to properly deal with fonts that do not contain fi/fl
  179.   ligature.
  180. * Fixed CG engine to allow printing of large text sizes again.
  181. * Fixed crashing in FARGO printer driver.
  182. * Made some changes the might improve printing to Epson Stylus 1520 to tabloid
  183.   paper.
  184. * Fixed crash when choosing HP Deskjet 1200C (XPD was missing white space
  185.   between two options). Fixed XPD and module.
  186. * All HP XPD files had compression turned off. Back on for those that support
  187.   compression.
  188. * Fixed screen popup unghosting in HP printer driver when selecting a new model.
  189. * Screen Prefs-Save will not save the data, even if nothing changed.
  190. * Halftone dithering to non-square dpi devices improved.
  191. * Very large halftone cells (created be low frequence and or high dpi devices)
  192.   will no longer cause problems, it will just be forced to the max allowable.
  193. * Fixed Epson Stylus Color Floyd-Steinberg problem print problem.
  194. * Fixed enforcer hits with that occured in several of the bitmap effects.
  195.  
  196. MAC:
  197. * Can now enter newlines into multiline string controls.
  198. * Characters larger than the screen can now be displayed and printed to
  199.   non-PostScript (always worked to PostScript).
  200. * Apple Open Recent is now supported.
  201. * Fixed bug that prevented downloaded fonts from downloading to PostScript.
  202. * Added new Font control that let you type to match fonts, and supports black
  203.   font names for entering no font in Bullet font type, and style tags fonts.
  204. * Added new rotate & paste mouse forms.
  205. * Added missing strings for Reports.
  206. * Fixed screwed up style tags.
  207. * Fixed B&W display of new font control, and fixed the display of disabled
  208.   controls.
  209. * A few mysterious printing problems have been stomped.
  210. * Multiline alerts will no longer show "\n" in the text.
  211. * Improved output color quality. Seems that the output was being limited to
  212.   the screen depth so that B&W displays could not print in color etc. Fixed!

  214. Welcome to PageStream 3.3!
  215.  
  216. After nearly a year in the works, this version is the 3rd largest update
  217. we have ever produced, and the largest .x update. We think you will agree
  218. this version has been worth the wait.
  219.  
  220. What's new in PageStream3.3:
  221.  
  222. - Fly Out Tools
  223.    Tools have now been grouped together in "popup" like icon list that let
  224.    you switch between tools quickly. This gave us the "screen space" we needed
  225.    to give you more tools. Also, by grouping them together it does so in a way
  226.    that makes it easier to use.
  227.   The new tools are:
  228.     - Rotation Tool
  229.       This new tool is now grouped with Object Tool, Reshape Tool, and the Crop
  230.       tool. What does it do? It lets you finally set the rotation point of
  231.       object(s), and if you grab and object you can rotate it right on screen!
  232.       You can also slant/twist with keyboard qualifiers!
  233.     - 1,2,&3 Column Tool
  234.        Now you can switch between the 3 most common column counts in a text
  235.        frame without changing your prefs.
  236.     - Note tool
  237.        Create a yellow non-printing column much like a sticky note for your
  238.        notes. This will of course not print.
  239.     - Scallop, Bevel, Insert Box Tool
  240.        The rounded corner box and these are now grouped with the box tool. Pick
  241.        a corner type from the toolbox and draw away.
  242.     - Star, Wavy, Scallop, Puffy Polygon Tool
  243.       Like the above two, you can quickly switch between drawing these polygon
  244.       types without changing your prefs between them or drawing it as one type
  245.       and changing it to another.
  246.       In the future we hope to add a few more useful polygon types such as gears.
  247.     - Grid Tool
  248.       Yea, it was in a 3.2a beta for awhile, but there was no room for it and
  249.       borders. While you could always get to it via macros or the configurable
  250.       toolbar in 3.2, now its always there and "official". In the future we will
  251.       group some other object types with this as a sort of Misc group.
  252.  
  253. - Define Font Substitution
  254.    Big time feature! Load an old document and if it uses a font you don't
  255.    have it will let you know what fonts are in use that you don't have
  256.    installed and give you a chance to replace those fonts with another
  257.    font or just display it in another font but retain the orginal font.
  258.    Loading a document from another machine or even from another platform
  259.    has never been easier and more comforting.
  260.  
  261. - HTML Help
  262.    Now we can have the same help files between Mac and Amiga. Also, we can
  263.    supply our help files with more content like we used to do, and better yet
  264.    provide pictures where it helps.
  265.    In the future, we hope to add interactive help and more.
  266.  
  267. - Improved Adobe Illustrator Import/Export filter
  268.    The old Illustrator filter left much to be desired. Now you can
  269.    export to Illustrator and expect it to keep as much as possible when
  270.    importing into another application that supports Illustrator files.
  271.  
  272. - RTF Text Export
  273.    Now you can exchange files with WordPerfect PC or Microsoft Word with
  274.    most of the formatting intact.
  275.  
  276. - 2.2 Style Place Graphics
  277.    With the changes necessary for Font Subsitition, it makes it easier for
  278.    us to return the old favorite 2.2 style placing of graphics. While you can
  279.    configure PageStream to still place graphics automatically in the center of
  280.    the screen like it works now in PageStream, if you want you can set it to
  281.    allow direct placing and scaling of the graphics before it is placed on
  282.    the page. For those not familiar with PageStream2, after the graphic is
  283.    imported, you get a paste mouse cursor. When you click on the page it places
  284.    the upper left hand corner of the graphic where you clicked. If you click
  285.    and drag the mouse, you actually define the "frame" that the graphic is
  286.    scaled to fit into.
  287.  
  288. - Automatic Text Frame "Like" Toggle
  289.    When you import text with Auto Text Frames on, any overflow text will be
  290.    placed into columns created on blank pages. Before, it always created them
  291.    the same as the Masterpage margins/column count & gutter specified. Now you
  292.    can also choose to have the new columns created with the same coordinates,
  293.    count and gutter (and even the same color!) as the last column in the
  294.    article.
  295.  
  296. - PostScript Style Dash Line
  297.    You can still define line dash styles using the old familiar bitmap
  298.    on/off mannor, but you can now also describe the individual dash lengths
  299.    as you do in PostScript and applications such as Adobe Illustrator and
  300.    ProDraw.
  301.  
  302. - Set Type Language Submenu
  303.    Installed languages are now in a submenu in the Type menu. Select one of
  304.    these and you page numbers, dates, times and hyphenation will change to
  305.    reflect that language if you didn't specify it in the afore mentioned
  306.    attributes. Language can also be set in the Attributes dialog box, and
  307.    can be defined for paragraph and character style tags.
  308.  
  309. - DPI Calculator
  310.    A little script for those DPI impared users! Basically, you type in the
  311.    x/ydpi that you want the selected picture scaled to and it does the
  312.    calculation and scales the picture for you.
  313.  
  314. - Improved Color Palette
  315.     - Tint
  316.       Set the percentage tint for the color directly from the palette.
  317.     - From/To Color
  318.       Gradient to colors can now be set directly from the palette.
  319.     - Swatches
  320.       Small swatches in the color palette now let you identify what the color
  321.       looks like.
  322.  (* Note: For users with low color depth this function is pretty worthless.
  323.           Unless you are in at least 32 colors, and hopefully 256 or 24bit,
  324.           forget it!)
  325.  
  326. - Auto Page Orientation
  327.    Yea! Now you can mix landscape/portrait in a single document and print
  328.    at once. Better yet, stop changing your printer prefs everytime you print
  329.    a landscape document. Let PageStream do the work.
  330.  
  331. - Drag Duplicate
  332.    When your moving a object(s) with the Object Tool, or rotating them with
  333.    the Rotate Tool, hold down the Alt (or Option) key and when you let go of
  334.    the mouse button your original object will still be in the same place, but
  335.    a duplicate will be placed in the new location.
  336.  
  337. - Tab/Shift-Tab cycle through objects
  338.    Pressing Tab/Shift-Tab cycles through the objects on the current page.
  339.  
  340. - New toolbar buttons for view pictures/drawings/column outline/text
  341.   framelinks/invisibles
  342.    Turn pictures on and off with ease again!
  343.  
  344. - Chapters can now be moved into and out of parent chapters
  345.    If you change the structure of your document you don't have to start
  346.    over now. Add and remove chapter levels on the go.
  347.  
  348. - Pages can be moved from a document to a new chapter
  349.    Create a document and decide you need chapters? No problem now.
  350.  
  351. - Set screen frequency/angle/spot function for Halftone dither to
  352.   non-PostScript printers
  353.    Thats right, now non-PostScript users can set all this (and more). 10dpi
  354.    line spot functions for those special effects, or set the freq/angle for
  355.    each ink on your color printer to finally get the best color you can.
  356.    ** Flash ** Now you can also set a gamma for each ink and UCR/GCR for
  357.       the RGB to CYMK conversion. Set them in the XPD pref file or just
  358.       "customize" it in the print setup requester.
  359.  
  360. - Improved Ordered and FS dither options to provide a better range of grays
  361.   to high res printers. Now the Ordered and FS dithers use a bigger cell
  362.   size when you print at higher resolutions.
  363.    What does this mean? Less banding on your gradients and more
  364.    recognizable shades of gray/color
  365.  
  366. - Mirror, Negative, Thumbnail, Crop & Reg marks, and color seps to
  367.   non-PostScript
  368.    I can't say that I agree with the use of several of these, but you
  369.    wanted it, so you got it! At least thumbnails is _very_ nice!
  370.  
  371. - Colorize B&W or Grayscale pictures. Print them on a specific spot plate.
  372.    Scan a black and white logo and change it to a spot color if you want!
  373.    Make it red! It will print that way, and if its a spot color it will
  374.    print on that spot plate!
  375.  
  376. - Load/Save printer prefs
  377.    Switch between printers quickly. Just load/save miniprefs from the
  378.    printer pref folder. Now you can switch between your color inkjet, black
  379.    and white laser, and setup for printing to disk for an imagesetter without
  380.    looking for those scraps of paper with the right settings for each.
  381.  
  382. - Preview color seps on screen
  383.    Just shift-select the name of the view in the hide or show submenus in
  384.    the window menu and now you can not only rename the view like before, but
  385.    you can also show the color plates one at a time to make sure you have
  386.    right spot colors or overprint/knockout options set!
  387.  
  388. - HP driver now supports user editable XPD file
  389.    Add new resolutions or tweak defaults without waiting for an update from
  390.    us.
  391.  
  392. - External pictures FPOs are now saved with the document
  393.    When you load a document you don't have to wait to display those
  394.    external pictures while it rebuilds the FPO!
  395.  
  396. - Easier reselection of moved external pictures
  397.    If you ever reorganized your external pictures, you know what a pain it
  398.    is to tell PageStream where those 50 pictures went. Now, it remembers where
  399.    you helped it find each "lost" graphic and looks there for others before
  400.    asking you where they went!
  401.  
  402. - Unsupported accent characters get displayed as unaccented
  403.    Not every font supports every accented character. Now if it can't find
  404.    the accented character it will use the unaccented character.
  405.  
  406. - Total object count shown in Report...
  407.    Get a general idea how your document is shaping up.
  408.  
  409. - Configurable Paper and DPI list in new ILBM XPD file
  410.    Now you can set configure the ILBM printer driver for any DPI or paper
  411.    size you want.
  412.  
  413. - When defining Bullet character; and Tab fill and align on character,
  414.    select from a list using a requester similar to the insert character\
  415.    requester, say goodbye to typing strange unicode characters to access
  416.    characters not found in the standard system fonts but that are
  417.    handled by PageStream and its font engines.
  418.  
  419. This is the short list. There are of course countless bug fixes and speed
  420. enhancements, but this covers what I can remember for features that we are
  421. committed to. The details of some of these things are far more impressive
  422. in real life, but that is what the betas are all about. You get to try it
  423. "hands on" and we get some feedback.

  436. CHANGES FROM 3.2b TO 3.3
  437. ------------------------
  438.  
  439. TEXT:
  440. - Text marks with accented characters in their name now show in the Insert
  441.   Text Mark Name and Page Number popups properly.
  442. - Internal changes for loading/saving of styletags for support on other
  443.   platforms.
  444. - Improved text processing on loading/importing of text.
  445. - Numerous text attributes that only made sense with positive numbers would
  446.   choke on negative numbers. In these cases negative numbers are now forced
  447.   into a sensible range or ignored.
  448. - Inserted revision version number variables always showed 1.0 (ie, the first
  449.   revision version number). Now shows the version number to the _last_
  450.   revision.
  451. - Fixed editing of custom color for text.
  452. - Page Break command will now cause and overflow, and force the auto-creation
  453.   of pages when importing text if that option is on.
  454. - Arrows in edit palette for leading now work for fixed leading.
  455. - Smart open single/double quotes inside of open single/double quotes fixed.
  456. - Fixed shift-text select across multiple pages/frames.
  457. - Fixed cursor placement in multicolumn frames.
  458. - Saving of default font/size & language fixed. It saved it but you had to
  459.   reload to make it take effect.
  460. - When editing a column that is overflowed, if the column is no longer over
  461.   flowing the overflow indicator is now properly removed.
  462. + Tab Align To and Leader character, and Paragraph Bullet character have
  463.   a selector like Insert Character which lets you choose the character
  464.   visually from a list. New in 3.3!
  465. + Type Language- Now quickly set the language of your text used for long dates,
  466.   times, page numbers. Can now be set via the Language submenu, in Attributes
  467.   dialog box, and also in Paragraph and Character style tags. New in 3.3!
  468. + Added "Select Text on Paste" toggle to File Preferences. Now text can
  469.   be selected or not after inserting/pasting. New in 3.3!
  470. + Added Like Masterpage/Previous toggle to Automatic Text Frames. When set
  471.   to Like Masterpage, the automatic text frame will be positioned to mimic
  472.   the Masterpage using its margins and column count/gutter. When set to
  473.   Like Previous, the automatic text frame will be positioned to match the
  474.   last previously created text frame in the article. New in 3.3!
  475.  
  476. OBJECTS:
  477. - Drawing & Picture x-box place holders are now clipped by the mask.
  478. - Picture stroke now displays properly.
  479. - Can edit zero height and/or width objects without lockup now.
  480. - Duplicated external pictures will show the proper resolution in the
  481.   Information dialog box.
  482. - Fixed edit palette rotate button directions for multiple selected objects
  483.   in object mode. It was rotating the opposite direction from the other
  484.   edit palettes.
  485. - An object first moved to the pasteboard and then the move undone will no
  486.   longer move to never never land but will move to the proper old location.
  487. - Objects on dissolved spreads will now be placed on the page where the center
  488.   of the object lies and not the upper left hand corner as before.
  489. - Fixed making/generating/releasing of masks for resized graphics.
  490. - Fixed distribution in bounding box for centered and right/bottom edge.
  491. + B&W and Grayscale pictures can now be colored using object fill color.
  492.   New in 3.3!
  493. + When dragging object(s) with the object tool, pressing and holding ALT will
  494.   create a copy when releasing the mouse. The mouse form will change the a
  495.   the paste icon to indicate a duplicate will be made. New in 3.3!
  496. + New editing tool: Rotation tool. Free rotate selected objects by grabing
  497.   their size handles or any portion of the object and rotating them. Also,
  498.   the rotation point can now be selected and moved with the rotation tool.
  499.   When rotating a object(s), holding down the ALT key will create a duplicate
  500.   object rotated to the new orientation. Pressing Shift or Control while
  501.   rotating will slant or twist. To set the rotate about point, either
  502.   numerically set it using the edit palette, or click and drag the rotate

  504. + Magnify Tool can now drag zoom from center or from corner. Definable
  505.   in prefs, and shift key will live toggle when drag zooming. New in 3.3!

  541. - When first loading PageStream, if duplicate modules are found, a list

  543.   remove any old or duplicate modules before PageStream can be loaded.
  544.   Simply changing the name of a module is not suficient to disable
  545.   loading. It must be moved to another directory or deleted.

  549. GENERAL PRINTING:
  550. - Inline objects are not properly accounted for in the print progress

  556. - Fixed printing of stroked/filled text that caused the stroked text to

  559.   work, and never lock up. It kinda cheats to support this, but then
  560.   again, PostScript doesn't really support it, and who would really
  561.   want to do this anyway...
  562. - Gradient Sin/InvSin/Saw/InvSaw fixed for angle > 90, and the code
  563.   was tightened up some and made a little faster.
  564. - Added support for dashed style lines in addition to existing pattern.
  565. - Renamed output options PostScript file to Disk file and EPS file to
  566.   EPS disk file
  567. - Fixed orientation problem to imagesetters. Now if you are print a
  568.   document that is 17" x 11", for custom you would choose 11"width and
  569.   17" height with landscape on, for printing to an imagesetter whose
  570.   roll width is < 17". If you printing that document to an imagesetter
  571.   whose roll width is >= 17" then you would choose 17" width and
  572.   11" height with no landscape.
  573. - "Fixed" problem with screwed up PPDs. Some PPDs (especially the Linotronic
  574.   PPD files) specified that Symbols and Dingbats where special encoding,
  575.   but had a standard characters set. They should indicate that those fonts
  576.   have a special character set as well. The PostScript driver now requires
  577.   that the font not be a special encoding in addition to not being a special
  578.   character set. The ppds should be fixed but they are not ours to fix. This
  579.   fixes the problem just fine however.
  580. - Fixed printing of stroked masked Pictures, Drawings, and EPS.
  581. - Pictures that are not printed on a spot plate (or in the case of a spot
  582.   picture on a process plate) are now rendered with a white box instead of
  583.   a white bitmap. Big improvement in speed :-)
  584. - Added support for CMYK bitmap output to Level2 PostScript printers.
  585.   Before CMYK bitmaps were converted to RGB.
  586. - Added support for color seps of EPS files. Should have worked before.

  744. As it always seems, after a week "behind the keyboard" you will wonder what's
  745. next! That questions is best answered by you! We have just about got
  746. our Amiga and Macintosh versions in sync, and a major portion of the rest
  747. of this year will probably be devoted to getting the Windows version up to
  748. speed. However, PageStream development will not stop. We are not sure if the
  749. next version will be 3.4, or if we will step on up to 4.0. That answer depends
  750. on feedback from you! We have a never ending list of features that we want to
  751. add, and that have been requested by users. The question is, what would serve
  752. our users best? So send us some feedback. Let us know not only what features
  753. you would like to see, but let us know what you use PageStream for, and
  754. how you use it. Even if you don't know how to make PageStream better, if we
  755. know how and what you use PageStream for, we can use that information to
  756. improve PageStream.
